Staying Happy and Healthy During Thanksgiving

November 25, 2019

No matter what you’re thankful for this Thanksgiving, remember to be thankful for yourself! So this holiday season, remember to take care of yourself by eating and exercising right. Here are some tips to stay happy and healthy over the holidays:

  1. Everything in moderation!

We know, we know, Thanksgiving is an excuse to shove our faces with delicious food that we have been waiting for all year! However, consuming large amounts of food too quickly can really affect our digestive systems. We suggest maintaining a balanced diet throughout the holiday season and eating in moderation. If you would like some advice about eating healthier, make sure to ask our physical therapists!

  1. Run for fun!

If you aren't a runner, maybe it’s time to try it out at your local Turkey Trot this Thanksgiving! What a better way to be a part of your community than to support it by running for a good cause? However, there are other ways to support your community if you aren’t feeling a run! Ask our physical therapists what we’re doing to support a cause!

  1. Exercise anyways!

Running isn’t for everyone, however, no matter what you do to release those endorphins, make sure to continue to workout normally even over the holidays! It can be easy to let your gym days slide during these busy times, but even just a 30-minute workout would be better than forgetting it altogether. Make sure to keep your heart and head happy; stay active! If you need help figuring out what you can do to stay active this Thanksgiving, talk to one of our physical therapists today!

  1. Enjoy a wonderful feast!

Yes! Finally, some good news! Thanksgiving dinner is full of many wonderful nutrients and different food groups to choose from. Whether you are a carnivore, a vegetarian or any other type of feaster, there is something for everyone! But here’s the catch: EAT! The popular thing to do is to starve our tummies to make “room” for this very large feast at the end of the day. Whether you will be watching the game or Rose Bowl, playing football with friends, or cooking...all day, make sure to eat! Eating breakfast and snacking during the day will actually help prepare your stomachs when it comes to the big meal of the day! Eating healthy is crucial for the holiday season, if you’d like more tips, please reach out to our physical therapists!

Last but not least, don’t forget to have a wonderful time this Thanksgiving! Staying happy and healthy is important but remember to enjoy a relaxing holiday with friends and family! This Thanksgiving we are thankful for all of you and we want to help in any way we can to make sure you’re staying happy and healthy!
