Our Cardiopulmonary Program promotes maximal levels of function for individuals with cardiopulmonary related health problems. Each patient is evaluated by a licensed physical therapist to establish baseline fitness levels and safety for exercise. Ultimately, the goal of this program is to transition patients from a medically supervised exercise environment to an independent gym or home-based activity program. This evaluation includes:
Review of past medical history and current condition
Cardiopulmonary response to activity – assessment of vital signs at rest and response to exercise (Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, Oxygen Saturation)
Upper and lower extremity strength
General flexibility tests to identify joint and/or muscle impairments
Fall / Balance Risk
What will physical therapy include?
Improving functional capacity
Improving limitations noted in evaluation (e.g. increasing strength, range of motion, and balance)
Educating patients on recommended exercise parameters as well as safe physiologic response to exercise and activity
"I want to take this opportunity to thank you, Luke, especially, as well as Tiffany, Talia and Rhiannon for the wonderful physical therapy rehab these past two and a half months following my hip replacement surgery. Your extremely professional one-on-one expertise couple with the friendliest, relaxing, optimistic and conducive atmosphere of your facility made my experience a most enjoyable and physically successful one.
Although I am no longer in your professional care, I shall diligently pursue your follow-up exercise regimen and suggestions for a complete recovery. In the future, I will strongly recommend you to anyone requiring the best in physical therapy treatment. I can’t thank you enough."
